Welcome back to another New Music Tuesday! This week we’re Jersey-bound, taking a look at the band The Early November.
I discovered the band while listening to a Spotify playlist titled Punk Unplugged. The playlist included the song “Narrow Mouth,” from the album Imbue (it now includes the acoustic version from the latest album). I only got around to listening to more…well, today actually!
The Early November have been together since 1999; although they did go on a 4-year hiatus from 2006-2010, finally reuniting in 2011. Their genre is a mix of alternative, emo and indie. The Early November is currently signed with Rise Records (Knuckle Puck, Memphis May Fire). Members include Ace Enders (vocals, rhythm guitar), Jeff Kummer (drums), Joseph Marro (guitar), Sergio Anello (bass), and Bill Lugg (lead guitar).
The Early November just released a new album in January titled Fifteen Years. What I love is how it’s almost entirely acoustic. It sounds pretty different from their other albums because of this, but it was a good choice for their 14-year mark album (yes it’s been longer than that since 1999, but hiatus).
The band also just concluded a 10-year anniversary tour in honor of their album The Mother, The Mechanic, and the Path.
It’s been about 3 years since the band released a new music video, but their last one is pretty good! Check it out here:
